How to replace the flint:
1. Remove the insert from the lighter case, using a small screw driver or a coin, slowly remove the spring.
2. Remove the remaining piece of flint by gently tapping the insert against a hard surface, and insert a new flint into the flint tube.
3. Replace the flint spring and turn clockwise until tight.
4. After fully tightening the spring you keep extra flints under the felt pad so you always have them handy for future use.

How to replace the wick:
1. Insert a new wick either downward through the chimney or up through the bottom of the fuel chamber.
2. Remove all of the fuel chamber's components: the flint screw, felt pad, packing material, and the old wick.
3. Install the new wick thru the chimney hole and bend the top portion of the wick over the chimney to hold it in place during reassembly.
4. Replace the packing material in small pieces, interweaving the wick between the padding in a serpentine or "S" pattern.
5. Reinstall the felt pad over the flint tube and secure it with the flint spring as previously mentioned
6. Trim the wick even with the chimney height and reinstall the insert into the case.
